"ASD T":Compact compressed air system with energy-saving direct drive

KAESER has already shown that cost-effective compressed air generation and treatment can be carried out with minimal space requirement. This advantage is now also available for smaller delivery volumes in the 2 to 5.5 m³/min range as Kaeser introduces the ASD-T rotary screw compressor.

The “T” version of KAESER’s ASD compressor series comprises a rotary screw compressor equipped with a “SIGMA PROFILE” airend, high-efficiency 1:1 direct drive and an integrated refrigeration dryer. This model, as well as standard versions, is also available with frequency-controlled variable speed drive (SIGMA FREQUENCY CONTROL – SFC). Drive powers range from 18.5 to 30 kW, and a working pressure up to 15 bar can be achieved.
The ‘D’ in ASD stands for Direct Drive, which means that the airend and the drive motor are directly coupled and run at the same speed. The drive power is transmitted from the motor to the airend without the losses incurred by gearing or drive belts.
The cooling system with its radial fan and optimised cooling-air flow ensures low compressed air outlet temperatures. The fan’s power reserve is sufficient even for long lengths of ducting without the need to install auxiliary extraction fans. Moreover, it consumes less power than a comparable axial fan. In conjunction with outstanding sound insulation, the ingenious ventilation system enables exceptionally low sound levels of 65 to 69 dB (A).
ASD compressors are also equipped as standard with the PC-based “SIGMA CONTROL” internal controller, which brings additional advantages such as: increased energy savings, reduced maintenance requirement, enhanced reliability, seamless communication with existing control centres and the ability to connect to KAESER’s Teleservice facility.
Furthermore, a centrifugal separator with an electronic ECO DRAIN reliably removes condensate discharged from the compressor's after-cooler, thereby increasing performance and, at the same time, easing the burden on the downstream air dryer. The pressure drop across the connected refrigeration dryer in ASD-T and ASD-T-SFC packages is very low. A second ECO DRAIN is also used here to ensure reliable condensate removal without pressure- or air-loss.
All of these factors combine to provide the user with a reliable source of quality compressed air treated to the required dew point. Servicing and maintenance work is also made simple thanks to logical system design, easy component access and wide opening doors.
